I graduated in 1973. I had Brother Nick for Latin class and Mr. Magnifico for history (I think). and of course Brother Cornell (hey Oscar) was the Dean of Discipline.
I only wish I could send my grandsons to Essex Catholic HS. that would be a dream come true.

Rudy .

I just heard that Reggie Gay, class of '73, passed away in 2006. I was shocked. Reggie and I, and a couple of others, spent graduation night in the Nutley police headquarters, but that was a long, long time ago. RIP, Reggie

Well.. In many ways we were the first blessed generation following the 1960s.. We did not have the threat of the Vietnam war looming in our future right after high school (as did the previous 8 graduating classes). When I read the posts, I see many familiar names that take me back to some of the most enjoyable years of my life. When I tell people here in NM that I spent 12-yrs attending Catholic school (St. Mary's, Nutley and Essex Catholic HS, Newark) they shake their heads and say "you have to be kidding." Even more so when I add that our high school was a Greek temple in the heart of Newark. Anyway, I recall having Bro Nick for home room and religion my senior year (I think I still have pictures of Joeseph Moszczynski abusing our English teacher Mr. Winters). I had Mr. Tagaleri for home room and history during junior year, and I had Br. Mac (McNamarra) for home room and biology during 10th grade (HR 410). Freshman year it was Mr. Reilly for home room and world culture/studies. I still can't speak Spanish, but I had Senora Bourzac for 9th and 1th grade Spanish (she was a real nice person). So, fellow Essex County classmates, it's really good to hear about and from you all after so many years... Steve Yanicak

I had Bro nick for homeroom and for Latin. I still dont know why I took Latin, I think because I was an altar boy in grammar school and all of the prayers back then were in Latin. I also had Mr. Magnifico for History and Bro Lennon (?) for Mechanical Drawing. Good memories.

John MacDonald - I attended Essex during 1969-70; I would've been in the Class of '73. We moved to upstate NY. I'm currently working as a school psychologist in Seattle.
